Yeah, no doubt, I just think a comparison between her and Sally could be more rewarding than this. But then I found Sylvia every bit as uninteresting and redundant as @avclub-749a8e6c231831ef7756db230b4359c8:disqus did.

I can't believe they focused on Sally and Sylvia without mentioning Peggy. IIRC she's the one that literally sent him into the fetal position. She definitely serves as a counterpoint mother and daughter figure at times. Hell, I'd argue the last four solid paragraphs could apply to her almost perfectly.

We can just say 'raped.' He was clearly raped.

I'm not talking about general public personas though, I'm talking about within their own districts. Presumably the victor's parents and loved ones would be members of the community that other people would know outside of tv spots.

My first reply seems to be in moderation limbo so apologies if this is a double post:

Exactly, but why would the districts respect and aspire to people who were prostitutes that had all their friends and family killed or tortured by the government? Seems like a steep price for a nicer house.

To me she seemed pretty attracted to Gale throughout the first two books, but less so as he was unable to empathize with her experience in the arena and became more radical. And yeah, I did think the fact that the people she cared about most (Gale and Prim) were dull was a flaw in the books.

Yeah, the logic of the evil government is pretty lacking.

Yeah, this looks like one of those free Tumblr layouts.

IIRC he's gay.

I think that's exactly his point. Poehler, Fey, and Armisen in particular were always great performers but only became the 'cutting edge of contemporary mainstream (television) comedy' when they left the show. As he said, the problem is not the performers but the writing.

Literally the pilot episode is titled "The Gang Gets Racist." Probably shouldn't be too shocked it depicts its characters as racists.

@disqus_4EfBttwrb5:disqus : And the whole story's about stealing her fancy shit after she's dead.

Well, I've already said that I think it's wholly in character for Jessa to do something reckless because she thinks it will be interesting or fun. That's been more or less her single character trait this season.

Hmm. I guess the main reasons I thought Jessa was bi were: the fact that when she is explaining why the threesome wasn't going to happen both her and Marnie immediately said that Marnie was straight, which could be interpreted as "Marnie, the girl who was kind of leading the charge, is straight," or "Marnie, unlike

I definitely thought Jessa was attracted to Marnie starting from the opening exchange about how beautiful she was. Honestly, I thought they were going to kiss on the couch, after Jessa's line about how her misery was working for her.
