I imagine tournament organisers are under pressure to increase local interest. If they offer wildcards to domestic players and people like Lleyton Hewitt (former greats, in the twilight of their careers), they sell more tickets.

My thoughts exactly.

I dislike the wildcard system because tournament organisers overwhelmingly favour domestic players, who also, obviously, have the crowd on their side.

Also: Fabio Fognini just beat Andy Murray 6-2 6-4.

About Sharapova, or the wildcard system, or both?

As a player retiring from a drugs ban, I think she (or anyone in her situation) should have to win enough points in order to qualify for these tournaments.

Most wildcards at Wimbledon are given to British players (4 of 6 in the men's draw in 2016) and most wildcards at Roland Garros are given to French players (6 of 8 in the men's draw in 2016). I haven't checked for the Australian Open or the US Open.

Maria Sharapova has been declined a wildcard for Roland Garros. Why is that controversial, as some people seem to think? I like The Belle Album (1977), the Al Green album from the list I posted yesterday.

I have a couple of tracks on compilations:

Do you own any of the items in the painting?

Actually, maybe I am caught up on UKS. I remember that episode.

I'm familiar with the tracks by Desmond Dekker* and Smokey Johnson and Djet-X.

Alas, I'm not caught up on UKS.

"And THAT'S the story of how I met your mother."

Point taken.

Does it seem apocalyptic?
