"Just #whitepeople things":

When you go mingle with other cultures, it's imperative to show respect, especially in holy places. That means making sure you're dressed respectfully, and if you aren't, then don't go in.

Does the self-loathing American thing actually work? I never feel no shame as an American abroad. I exercise good manners, but feel no need to abase myself. That's not excessive patriotism. Just self esteem.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Ugh, this Jenner story is so triggering. My mother's killer (19 year old, speeding and texting, hit her head on) was just sentenced on Wednesday. A couple of fines and three years probation for hitting her car so hard that her steering wheel bent around her after it went through her and into her seat back. But he's

Yeah, this week sucks balls. I found out that my car insurance was cancelled without my knowledge and that I have been driving around for 2 months without it. That cost a pretty penny to reinstate.

If he was upset over just having dinner, you dodged a bullet. Guy sounds shady as hell.

Don't do it. Just don't do it. Another academic adding her voice to the pile of "no ways" you're going to get.

Please resist! It might turn out fine, but it could also ruin one or both of your careers! The semester will fly by, I promise.

Good evening, Jezzies! I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Why would beans on toast give you diabeetus? It's actually a relatively low calorie option... Also, plenty of those born on the British isles find mushy peas perplexing too. Although I will say they're probably better than canned peas (which are god awful), so they probably got popular before frozen peas was a thing.

Do they? I'm picturing a tarantula in tiny ballerina slippers now.

The snakes were relatively easy because you always had to make sure someone else was there with you, like another zoo-person, in case the snake decided to start biting you or constricting you. That should have been disconcerting, but it was actually comforting.

"I only ate it because my friend's mom offered it to me, and I didn't want to be rude."

All of these are mind blowing, but on a more mundane thing, it's funny to think where your threshold might be- like I'm thinking sad and cruel for fish and octopus! But I've eaten oysters plenty and they were alive.

I'm fine with the theoretical knowledge that these "foods" exist, photographic evidence is unnecessary.

Awesome. Snakes are interesting and tarantualas have such soft feet. And I'd also choose hissing cockroaches over over-stimulated kids who give the howler monkeys a run for their money.

A booger picked from someone's boyfriend's nose, for $100, and a tragicomically misguided sense of pride and honour. I was 18 and.... not sober.
