Nobody’s “making any money” selling electrons. I’ve spent a lot of time on the road this year— have yet to see anybody actually CHARGING a car at an E/A..
As you know, I’ve put 60,000 miles on my tow rigs moving Cruisers and rally projects around the country so far this year. Hundreds of “Electrify America” charging stations.
And the reason for that is because the original J1772 standard was shit. It was fine for a plug-in hybrid, but useless for fast charging.
Sandwiches and food are slightly better at Pilot-FJ. Some of them even now have Dunkin’ Express...
Or attempting to expand into a growing market.
The three things that have always made me roll my eyes at the “Electric cars are the future!” cries are the most obvious — charging time, battery range, and you can’t easily find an outlet every 20-30 miles like you can a gas station. For all the environmental benefits of…
Fun fact for those not in the know: Tesla’s charging connector design pre-dates the official CCS standard.
If you pay for it, you can use it.
People would still have to pay for the electricity, and Tesla would be able to profit from the massive infrastructure expenditure. Seems only logical to me.
Nobody’s asking them to give it away for free. Charge a premium for non-Tesla cars. If they really mean what they say about saving the environment, they’d open up their network for others.
Lol that’s what I’m thinking as well; because the only Love’s I know of is crummy and right across the interstate from a way nicer Buc-ee’s
“If Tesla really gave a shit about saving the environment, it would open up its charging infrastructure to every electric car.”
Another vote for Love’s being best among truck stops..but aren’t the showers for pro drivers only?
Perhaps “pivoting” is the wrong word. I would call this “hedging their bets”.
While Andrew’s idea is the best, it’s about 30 years too late, as there was a cartoon called The Power Team, and it was Bigfoot, and it was awesome. Today’s KITT would be a goddamn Nissan Rogue, and then you’ll see Knight Rider Rogues everywhere
Congratulations!
My town’s theater has an end-of-season awards ceremony.
What kind of worm though? Not a, heh, garden variety worm! Must google this. Whereabouts in the world are you? In general terms.
Joyce Carol Oates was one of my first favorite short story writers. I discovered her when I was a freshman in college in 1985. (Yes, I was the class of 1984!)
