Can we get past the point where we think all sci-fi is remotely the same? I would assume, wrongly I guess, that I09 wouldn’t think it is the same. A cursory Google check of near future films lists: Blade Runner, Terminator, Interstellar, Looper, The Martian, Back to the Future and Dredd.

I mean, shouldn't you know what type of movie you are walking into? The review's from about 2 weeks ago clearly mention it being a mix of Apocalypse Now and A Space Odyssey. In what world would a mix of those films have you think "fun weekend film"? 

The movie wasn't for 20 something sci fi nerds. 

It takes like half a decade to make a game. To think serious work isn’t already happening is disrespectful to the process of making a game of that magnitude.

Spacecom has already been shown to cover up whatever is necessary. Pitt stopped the attacks on my earth, while providing 20 plus years of data about the Galaxy from Neptune. 3 people died, but the movie showed that lives are pretty expendable, and so I found this ending to make the most sense.
