Your view is extremely US-centric. Of all the civilized nations in this world the US is by far one of the most racist. Go to Canada, the UK, or Germany and you’ll find a much more tolerant, accepting population. Just because all these problems exist in the US doesn’t make them a global (1st world) phenomenon.

“Microaggression” is a concept invented as an excuse to justify being perpetually offended at literally everything, no matter how overwhelmingly petty it is. “Pick your battles” is just as good advice as it always has been.

Yeah, I really hate this modern idea of feminism. Call it modern feminism, third-wave feminism, social justice, or whatever else; just don’t hijack the once perfectly sane idea that “hey, maybe women and men should be treated equally” and turn it into “women are special snowflakes.” No we’re not.

At Deadspin we just ban 99 percent of commenters and openly mock whoever is left. I think this is a good policy.
