Can I talk about Superstore here?
Nicole Richie was born to play this part. It’s shocking how good she is in this role.
Did anyone else notice the name of the store Tyrell approaches when he goes into town? Tom Wingfield’s Country Store. Tom Wingfield is a character in ‘The Glass Menagerie’. Not sure the symbolism intended, but that can’t be accidental.
I still cannot believe that they got Wallace Shawn for the interrogator. He was great. He looked like the f society mask. The tea kettle was a perfect touch.
Nurse I’m gonna need some bactine and a Snoopy bandaid I just cut myself on this immense edge.
You are not a good person.
I can only stop myself by watching “Let’s Generalize About Men” on a continuous loop.
I’M NOT CRYING, YOU’RE CRYING
As long as this doesn’t interfere with his work on People of Earth, I’m happy for this. (Note: I have the last two episodes of People of Earth saved and unwatched on the DVR. Given that Ozzie died mid-season, I’m still assuming he’s coming back since he wasn’t removed from the credits.)
If Lorca had thrown down the disruptor and pulled one of these on a Klingon guard, I would have been set.
I got a fight scene where somebody got cold-clocked with an awkward, clasped, double fist swing punch! It took 5 episodes, but Trek is back, baby!
During the Tick panel at NYCC, he made reference to taking shitty acting jobs in the past that he now regrets. This must have been on his mind then.
I have to admit that I absolutely loved the game show sketch and the continuous escalation of Nanjiani backpedaling and trying to come across a better person. My favorite line was about how the kids probably want cars instead of jackets.
He was warm and funny in his monologue, nimble in some weak sketch material, and yelled “Believe women!” in the goodnights.
I’ll have to remember “All Holidays Matter”.
I like when they do the old school monologues where the host just basically does stand up material. They let Louis CK and Aziz do that, and it’s always the best. I was really afraid they might make Kumail sing!
That Niger joke was the best joke SNL has told in seasons. Shocking and perfectly crafted.
Elliot is pretty adamant about not taking the lives of innocents, at least directly. That’s why he didn’t blow up the gas plant in season one. Of course he’s not going to go along with Stage 2 blowing up a building. To say that he’s pulling back on Stage 2 completely misses the point. Elliot wasn’t involved in…
THANK YOU. This is about the fifth review I’ve read already (don’t know why I didn’t start here, AV Club’s post-show was a stellar go-to for me last season), and you’re the first to point out how disappointing Elliot’s turn is in the premiere. It was the episode’s greatest bummer by far.
