Really? I actually thought Roanoke was the best season they’ve done since Asylum. They actually stuck to some rules and plot and in parts, was somewhat scary.

Roanoke was awful for the first half, but was a lot more fun after the “twist” when they switched from the reenactments to present-day. By the end of the season I enjoyed it way more than Hotel and the boring slog that was Freak Show.

Reading the AV Club comment sections these days is like watching gloomy survivors of an apocalypse still wandering the once familiar, now empty and derelict places where they used to hang out, mechanically repeating old gestures that have lost all meaning.

It doesn’t surprise me that a fan of the Preacher comic books would decide punching someone in the face is the right thing to do. It’s what Jesse did 90% of the time, instead of using the power that made the comic interesting.

I had to specifically look for this review under the “TV Club” tab, it wasn’t on the main page... maybe that’s part of the low comment count?

I expect Ms. Lint to eventually wake up to this and hate him almost as much as she hates Derek. I don’t think anyone will be as hateable as Derek, though, not even a man who releases weaponized syphillis.

“Dick move.”

One of my favourite jokes from this episode (and a nice reflection on how smart this show is) is The Terror making a reference to something that was previously only briefly mentioned in a background newscast: “And then I started killing all the bees.”

The big difference between this and the Warbuton show may be that Edlund has 15 years of pretty extensive TV writing experience between them, and has gone from trying to adapt the comics to trying to make a really solid show he has complete control over.

I absolutely love this show. It definitely nails the irreverent tone and heart of the comics and cartoon. It makes so much sense that Barry Sonnenfeld is an executive producer, since I get a lot of the same vibes that his early movies give off. The moment when Tick yelled “My baby!” is so hilarious and genuine that I

Watching the entire half-season turn into one big Alexa commercial at the end made me laugh out loud...But am I the only one disappointed there’s no “ominous music” playlist currently available on Prime? Seems like a missed opportunity.

They DID get a big chuckle from me for making the last line of the episode, uttered by the Terror, literally, “Cliffhanger!”

I was hoping for a great Tick TV show. I wasn’t expecting a great Superhero Show. Take out all the parody and comedy and beautifully overwritten speeches, and you’ve still got a pretty compelling superhero story.

I really liked all six episodes, but I felt like #5 here was the episode where the whole thing really clicked together as “The Tick.” Maybe it was the absurd banality of Overkill and Dangerboat bickering like an old married couple that did it for me. “Well, I did’t see you on Yahoo! or whatever, did I?”

Being stuck in a holding pattern in a flying suit because you’re afraid to disengage the autopilot because you don’t know if you can fly on your own is such a beautiful metaphor for how some people live their lives.

They had to hire a whole lotta extra security.

I’m pretty delighted, I finished it, and I guess the payoff for the VLM is in the next half of the season, but The Terror is uh, terrific, and I can’t wait to have him heavily featured in the next episode. I can’t remember the last time a villain was so funny and personable, yet clearly evil and murderous, and his
