Not upset, but a lot of your arguemtns sound awful close to those who like to imply women, execially hot women, are all fake geek girls just doing it for the attention. I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way, but that’s how a lot of it sounded.

Because they enjoy both the media from which the cosplay originates and sharing their awesome cosplays with other like-minded individuals. You know, the same reason anyone else does?

I grew up tubby, lazy, hated the heat in a super hot climate, everyone drove everywhere, eating is our city's pastime, esp. if it's fried or rich, people saw it as exercise if they had to just walk up some stairs & I never ever liked sports, sweating or moving- I loved movies & sitting, hated sports & "doing things".…

Getting a dog a few years ago helped motivate me. He NEEDS a walk every day. I did it for him in the beginning but now I really enjoy it. I've gotten to know my neighborhood better and feel more connected, if that makes any sense. I started off slowly but now walk about 2 miles a day. So maybe a dog that needs a daily…

I don't want to be an obstructionist, but what if none of these physical activities are particularly attractive? Finding Something You Enjoy Doing, and Start From There is much harder if your idea of enjoyable physical activity is a quick dungeon run in World of Warcraft.
