It IS a thing, btw. Here’s a nice shot on an older 400.

The United guy I talked with on a cross-country flight was pretty passionate about it— look at the tail clearance on a 200 seat 757-200/300 versus a 200 seat 737-MAX. Boeing doesn’t want the pilots making those traditional “optimal climb rate” ascents... and programmed the flight envelope limitations to code around it.

As I mentioned in the other post, the use of software to blunt the tendency to “nose up” under take-off conditions wasn’t just about “stall avoidance”.... it was also about risk of tail strikes. As a result, the take-off and landing “airplane attitude” is a lot, lot trickier with the MAX.  Your flight envelope is just

Exactly. I had that on another thread today...

In a cockpit of confusion where you are getting “stall”, “low speed” and “terrain” warnings blaring? Nah, my bet is, once the data is analyzed (and this IS conjecture) we’ll find that the pilots had no idea they were fighting a trim issue— I’d bet they were yanking back on the yoke of a plane hell bent on ignoring

I have a bunch of 737 Captains as friends. And have also spoken to other “training pilots” for AA and UAL. There have been whispers about the design trade-offs on the MAX for years. It’s too much engine for a 50 y/o airframe that wasn’t designed for this.

The MAX is destined to be grounded worldwide and Boeing’s headstrong behavior makes them look even more ham-handed than they did in the middle of the 787 battery kerfuffle— with video beamed worldwide of battery goo and smoking dripping out of the bellies of new 787s.

Don’t worry, Hayden, most of us dug your rap.

That must have required a lot of overnight parts from Japan.

I 100% agree with you.

Well, I don’t think minds like that can be changed. I’m not really willing to spend an hour composing an actual substantive post on Gawker(RIP).com just to be noped.

I’ve worked both sides of the isle. And honestly, manufacturing and skilled labor jobs make as much as they are owed. The only risk I’m taking sitting at a desk doing data entry is maybe getting carpal tunnel.

Am I the only one that feels semi-skill labor jobs shouldn’t pay too much? Why do people feel they are entitled to a 1/4 acre single family home with a high school diploma?

You know what else someone should be able to do in a free society?

We’re going to build a big, beautiful Dyson sphere...and the Omicronians will pay for it!

In case the article and the above comments didn’t spell it out for you: There’s a difference between games that have rape in them and a game that’s ABOUT raping people. This one was the latter. It’s their platform, they can remove it, and certainly this has no more reason to be owed a platform than that school

Or

Goddamn right the Navy would lead the fight.

For this sort of thing they’ll defer to THE Pentagon, not the lame one here on Earth

There already is a CX-4. It’s china-only, and it’s basically a “Crosstour” version of the Mazda 3.
