I miss car advertising that had both character and balls.
I sound like a broken record here, I know, but if they’re so keen on ‘going back to the beginning’ why not go back to what the Sixteen concept was? Yeah, it was a concept, but damnit it was a fine-ass execution of what Cadillac could do if it tried; hell, if it did that today, it could be even better with the large…
Thanks for the insight! I’m getting flashbacks of that episode where Jeremy Clarkson drives an F-150 Lightning truck through the English countryside and points out how out of place it is.
Why? I am honestly asking why don’t manufacturers offer the same light-duty pickup trucks and SUVs in North America that they sell overseas? Is it the market (or lack thereof)? Is it the different emissions/safety standards? What is it exactly that makes them justify not selling such a vehicle here?
Just do add to your point - people are also becoming cheaper and cheaper; they want more for less, and it’s hard to say it’s only because of self-entitlement. It is, but also because the cost of simply existing is getting more and more expensive each year, while salaries are, for the most part, remaining the same.
This is fucking splendid. Have a star.
Fucking A man. Subaru calls it an SUV because it attracts people who connect to that word. They know it’s a lifted/wagonized Legacy, which is a car, but Subaru is also good at speaking the right language in their respective markets. They are just making a killing here in British Columbia because the Outback plays…
Interesting. I came very close to getting a V60. I almost talked myself into getting the R-Design w/Polestar tuning, but that thing was so terrible on gas. Fun as hell to drive, but not really good for a DD (at least, not for my budget). I’m still considering a V60 in the future thought, especially one of the newer…
Subaru calls the Outback an SUV, and insurance company calls it a “light truck” - it’s a Legacy on stilts for fuck’s sake... it’s still a car, but with a lift on it and a roof rack!
My “clean truck” point came off harsher than intended. If you have a clean vehicle without dents, that doesn’t make you an asshole by default, I’m sorry if it implied that. What I was trying to say that a portion of pickup truck owners use their trucks like garage queens; they don’t tow or haul anything; they’re…
Neutral: Not likely for a while. Why? Because pickups are the ideal modern symbol for power, status and (supposedly, in bro language) male fertility.
Emphasis on “run poorly” but still running. Kinda like that old crusty guy who swears at everyone and everyone wants him to just die, but won’t out of spite.
I think he’s just saying that domestics haven’t always been unreliable in comparison to their JDM counterparts.
I don’t see the appeal. It’s a good looking car, great performance... but no way in hell is it even worth $30,000, let alone $120,000. And let’s not forget, aside from the true gearheads, this car was virtually invisible to majority of the car-buying public before FnF.
I look at the new Bronco’s arrival with great caution, because I have a strong feeling it won’t come out looking like we want it to. It’ll just be another four-door boring crossover.
This is so painfully accurate.
