Back in the 90s, I vaguely remember something called the Alpine Slide (or something like that) somewhere in the vicinity of Estes Park, Colorado. Seemed insanely fun, similar concept but not nearly the turns. More of a dry water slide on sleds. No idea if it’s still around (or if that even was where it was).

That actually makes sense. My first thought was one of the clips was replaced, but seeing the oval on the airbag cover makes me think that front end collision and a replacement steering wheel/airbag.

Yeah, most of the mainline patrol cars I’ve seen there have been 5 Series. I’ve never spoken to a Dubai cop, but everyone else I’ve come across over there has been extremely nice. One of my favorite places to visit!

Again, the key for both the parental side and the concerned public side is something far too often lacking: common freaking sense! As you said, don’t leave the kid in the car if the temp is spiking, don’t leave the kid for too long of a time, both are duh. For the public, is the kid in any obvious distress (sweating,

I had one of these as a rental in France for a week. It was a surprisingly decent car. Far from attractive, but at least in black all the weird trim bits blend into the background color.

A million times this!!!

Andrew, great and very useful article. Two of the most common errors I’ve seen when people are winching (which is far different than wenching), are not winching in a straight line (see the Top Gear Israel special below) and not using some sort of line dampener. I like the idea of a snatch strap as was done in the

Oh shit I forgot about that dude! Epic!

Figured it would be Quebec.

Nailed it. Was looking at those wheels, too.

OMG those were some bloody amazing pictures!!! Gawd that would be an amazing event to attend!

My “butch” comments were primarily directed towards the appearance...the expedition rack and footwear. Obviously not being the H6 or even turbo’d like a WRX, it isn’t going to be doing high-speed desert running like a Raptor. Most off-roading that doesn’t involve pre-running Baja (and I have driven on sections of the

And Wes has made the aforementioned mods to his #wildoutback. He’s added a roof rack, and some more off-road ready wheels and tires. He’s posted pics on his FB and Instagram accounts, but I’ll link to just one here, so you can see how good it looks. Nicely butched up.

“Snowgoose is such a relevant and simple solution to so many problems that it is somewhat bewildering that it has not already been fielded in larger numbers...” Remember, this is the same procurement system that has completely fucked up the F-35 (stick with the -18s and A-10s, fer crissake!) and the KC-46 tanker, I’m

This picture gives me such a hard on!

So very pleased to see Jake where he belongs!

Simply brilliant! Now please help me understand Mercedes’ naming scheme (all those numbers!).

With properly subtle mods, the Mk I looks pretty damn sweet. Still, the Mk II just calls to me...especially the 16v, in red, with those damn teardrops and Fuba antenna on the roof. Take me back to highschool and throw some Billy Idol in the Alpine!

That is TOTALLY something I would expect in one of your articles!

Completely agree. They are supremely capable vehicles, and why not highlight that capability. The entire Land Cruiser line (at least in the US) is effectively a limited edition, so why not offer the badass version?
