The only sentence in this whole story that anybody should pay any attention to is the last one.

Thing is, both can be true. He can be someone who means well and implement his ideas poorly without enough concern towards the collateral damage.

You said “the entire point of Starlink is to provide nice things (high speed internet) to poor and rural populations that cannot get them right now.” If that were the entire point, Musk would be giving the technology away for free. The entire point is to make money. Giving more communities internet happens to help

None of which are profitable yet, and all of which which work to fix issues for which he thinks he has a solution. Whether he makes money from it in the future won’t change the fact that those satellites will expand broadband availability.

The entire point of Starlink is to find another business venture that allows Musk to pilfer from the Federal Government. You literally have no evidence that Musk is doing anything out of altruism or that he cares in anyway about poor or rural populations. I am not saying you are wrong, just that you have no evidence.

You do know, that just like all of Musk’s other ventures, is that he is relying on the Federal Government to subsidize the cost of internet for those under served areas right? He created something that no one asked for, which is too slow to be useful for much longer, and that requires government subsidies to be

Been doing astrophotography long have you?

I’ve seen the night sky from the Twin CIty metro area and then I’ve also seen it from northeastern Iowa and anywhere in northern Michigan, and I’d have to disagree with you. Around home, I’m lucky to see even 2nd magnitude stars, while in those other areas, you can readily see the arch of milky way across the sky,

Um yeah right, this guy Daniel López is a total hack and has no idea how to shoot astrophotography as is evident by all the crap iPhone pics on his website.

People like Elon Musk are why we can’t have nice things. Change my mind.

I mean, that’s assuming that he had viable images with no satellites. If they were long-exposure and there was a lot of satellite activity (and they do look like very long exposure images), that might not be the case.

Thats not what quite what happened here, from the photographers FB page.

Maybe this will speed up us getting multiple observatories on the far side of the moon or at the Lagrange points. I do hate that he’s destroyed the night sky.

Or, and this is crazy, you and your DOT-qualified driver can stay the fuck home.

Seconded the chemtrail eye roll. Please get that shitty headline changed. It’s airplane emissions, not chemtrails.

Chemtrails, 25 year old secret immunity deals, self driving tech, government raids, China’s soft-power neocolonial bankrupting of Africa.

yes but they are a regulated heavy polluter. article said unregulated.

I know this isn’t very Jalop of me (brown manual diesel wagon and all), but why the F would anyone buy a diesel these days unless whatever country they are in heavily subsidized diesel fuel? If you want economical (and therefore you mostly drive with a light right foot), you can get a 1.5L turbo four engine that still

It’s even dumber VW didn’t make their diesel cars compatible with the larger nozzles.

Dumbasses are responsible because they can’t be arsed to look at whether they’re putting in petrol or diesel, so they had to make the diesel nozzle so big that it wouldn’t even fit in a petrol fuel filler.
