I am 100% in the same camp. I saw it last Thursday (the day before technically opening?) because a theater was showing it by me then. I had to go see it. I loved Garland’s version.

Jake composed a lot of (if not all of) the music :)
Fair enough, TeoFabulous :)
I think I’ll be in the minority here, because I don’t know how many here have been following Olan for the years that I have. I’ve been watching his stuff since he was in a little troop called Balloon Shop with two of his best friends before he set off on his own venture and YouTube. I have loved him for a long, long…
Yup!! It was SO well done. You don’t realize that you’re in the middle of this tense moment until you’re already halfway through it. It was fantastic writing.
I see what you do there, so have a star.
I loved the shifts in tense of the books. The first book being all past tense, the second being all present tense, and the third a mixture of the two going between the perspective of all of the major characters. In my opinion, VanderMeer’s ability to making something go from 0 to 100 mid-paragraph freaked the shit out…
The changes Garland made are vast and drastic, so don’t expect too much of the book. That being said, having loved the books, I really, really enjoyed the movie. It was its own thing, while using the source material as it’s foundation to bloom and expand in its own way. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
So, a theater by my house had 2 early showings last night, and I absolutely had to go to the first one. This was my most anticipated movie of the year. I finished the book series two days ago, but was keeping up on things, and looking forward to the non-spoiler review on iO9.
First and a quick aside.... there is a banner for Annihilation right below my chat box, so that’s rad.
Yup! I’m going to see it Thursday. A theatre near me has a 7:30pm showing, and that sounds awesome.
I thought about seeing it, but I’m actually more excited for Annihilation next weekend. I don’t go to the movies often anymore, but I’m definitely bringing my ass to the theater this weekend to support Alex Garland and Jeff VanderMeer. Those books are insane.
I actually really wanted him to ACTUALLY be an adult, and I really wanted us the audience to be seeing him as BoJack saw him, which was clearly a couple of children in a trench coat.
I’m really new to Tennis, but man am I glad to be getting into it right now during Roger’s comeback. It’s a beautiful thing to watch.
I actually do this a lot, and I live in California. If someone is especially nice to me and my need to get over, I always give them one blink of my hazards so as not to confuse them.
Ugh.... you’re so right.
After my first breakup, I listened to so much Elliott Smith it was ridiculous, but mainly his album Either/Or.
The Latvian’s was amazing. I legit couldn’t stop looking at it. The fact that it blended in perfectly with the smoked visor was awesome.
I replaced the chain on my 2005 Honda CRF450X SuperMoto last summer. I think one of the most important things to know prior to replacing the sprockets (which I think you should always do if you’re replacing the chain), is how many teeth your current sprocket has, and determine if you want more top speed, or more…
You win.
