Are they still rerunning Airheads every single afternoon?

STID was a pastiche, a collection of scenes written by people who come across as having developed their idea of what Trek is from watching other forms of media comment on Trek. It was a bunch of popular franchise references rehashed and thrown together in a way that felt artless and stale.

I remember Alice Eve suddenly taking off her clothes for no apparent reason, but even at the time I thought it was completely gratuitous. Jarringly pointless and pandering.

Spock: "Captain, this phenomena we're observing is not logical."
Kirk: "LOOK IT UP, IT'S SCIENCE!"

I think everybody in film school made this teaser at least twice.

Agreed. I'm hoping for an awesome Frankie Goes to Hollywood article.

I'm not sure a lot of people got this callback, but I sure did. Brilliant.

@avclub-d4ab2732ed8ac6a4b2d9734cf4c851d2:disqus They're recording a finished version of "I Always Say Yes" for the album this fall. I'm dying of anticipation.

- It's pretty rapey.
- The rap is terrible. Seriously, read the lyrics.
- It was catchy as a better song in the '70s
- It plods on and on and goes nowhere. At about 2:30 into the song, you're expecting it to wrap up, but you're still only about halfway through.

Thanks to mergers and related nonsense, Paramount owns the film rights to Trek and CBS owns the TV rights.

@avclub-e129a878f7b0e5aa9ac09e0282f64ea6:disqus That's the most extensive conversation about him I've ever witnessed.

I sometimes read "Fassbender" as "Fassbinder" and then get sad because nobody ever talks about him.

No love for "Step Into Christmas"?

His review of Human Centipede is amazing because he (rightfully) hates it, willfully spoils it and declares that while he's contractually obligated to give every film a star, he refuses to do so.

I find it difficult to believe she didn't know the whole story, but maybe it's just the kind of willful ignorance that allows people to be OK with Polanski's work AND Polanski the director.

It looks like we're having your kind of conversation here in the comments section.
