Oh, good. I've been dying to meet a bunch of people who think it's 1992.

It's very true that you couldn't just take the Tarkovsky aesthetic and directly apply it to another film. What I was really trying to get at is how rich and textured the visuals of his films are, even when set alongside more recent movies with far larger budgets and a newfound and nearly-infinite ability to manipulate

The Mirror is one of the most beautiful films ever made.* Watching some recent teal and orange trash afterwards will make you wonder how we let contemporary cinematography sink into such a deep rut.

1). The Internet is full of crazy people.
2). The Internet is full of people who see themselves as special, unique snowflakes.
3). The line between 1 & 2 is a very thin one.

@blooptaabi:disqus To a point, but self-indulgence is usually reigned-in to a reasonable degree by producers, executives, book / film editors or what have you.

Never before and never again will the phase "pay your taxes" sound so positively sublime.

I'm pretty sure a fedora is involved at some point. At least, that's all I've been able to gather from observing MRAs from a safe distance.

The Matrix sequels are perfect examples of what happens when filmmakers fall too deeply in love with their own aesthetic. The movies seem to exist solely to express the Wachowskis' self-indulgent obsession with whatever they thought was cool at the time.

More like the Soviet Russia. There's always a new, five year plan.

Dude can't sell them though. The trademark on Etsy Bieber was already claimed by a self-described "Post-DIY Knit-core" band in Williamsburg.

Remember when The Matrix and Fight Club were new movies that hadn't been over-quoted and (in the latter's case, mostly) completely misunderstood by crazy people?

I think a lot of writers are overstimulated and freak out when they have to manage both their lives and their art. One usually suffers. But who doesn't suffer for their art a little bit?

Learning  LaTeX takes an evening, but it's free and makes anything you write look a hell of a lot better.

Oh, you're the guy.

I'm not worried. Look at what they've done to Flickr since the bought it in 2005: Nothing.

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I believe JMS said that he considered adding a shot to a later episode where the camera would pan across Bester's desk, revealing a brain in a jar marked 'T. Winters'.
