The backlash to long episodes is because, in the Netflix-era, a lot of shows have gone long for no good reason.

For sure. Morghim and I are the “Blade Runner agnostics” that Dowd describes and we went to see it largely based on the coolness of the trailer (and the fact that we trusted Villenueve wouldn’t let us down).

I wasn’t crazy about the movie, but that is indeed a damn good trailer. They definitely should have lead the marketing with this one.

Larry’s “I mean...what the Fuck...” was the line of the night for me.

FWIW, the idea of a confidentiality agreement for a sexual non-disclosure agreement wasn’t something that Chappelle’s Show came up with.

I have a nice slab of slate here you could bang your head against, since you’re into that sort of thing.

That it’s a fucking School of Journalism making official statements about “reversing history” makes it doubly (plus) bad. It’s either sloppy hyperbolic writing, or a blatant rejection of journalistic impartiality - most likely a combination of both.

Home Movies. Specifically the commentary. I had the DVDs running almsot non-stop after they were released, I have the big box set and even after 10-15 years, Loren and Brendon’s tabla jam in the commentary puts a smile on my face.

It’s a pick of either MST3K or any of Red Letter Media’s Best Of The Worst and Wheel of the Worst videos.

Oh, I know. It makes me so glad to have gotten out of journalism (or the decomposing corpse of the field once known as journalism). And when I came back here today, I saw the comment that is going to make me give up on this site forever.

Just 5 more Morrissey stories today and AV Club will have hit its quota.

I really like Brian Eno’s comment. I feel that way about Frank Gehry’s architecture, where I personally don’t like it, but I don’t wish it didn’t exist. Having a figure like Gehry around making ugly buildings definitely enlivens the world, and makes architecture better overall, even if I personally dislike his work.

Why do you care? What difference does it make? You do you.

I like some stuff he did, appreciate his iconoclastic brillance, don’t care enough to make myself try and like his music more.

That’s just about the stupidest string of comparisons I’ve ever seen written out. Not a single one of those things is like appreciating Frank Zappa for his articulated perspectives but not appreciating his music. Not a single one. My goodness.

For what it’s worth, Jackson Pollock’s work is definitely not “just paint thrown at a wall.” There is a tremendous amount of math, physics, and chemistry happening that the lay person (myself included) will never fully appreciate. Much like a lot of Zappa’s music.

But he didn’t affect the line in any way. He was helping himself to a second serving of home fries, he did not require the assistance of any staff. The guy making omelettes continued to make omelettes, and the guy next in line did not have to wait one second longer to get his eggs that he would have had the man not

Oh!  I didn’t even realize!  I’ve been watching the later seasons again anyway since I only saw them once the first time around.

His lawyer says he was investigating an international underground fighting ring and he was murdered by ninjas.

Here’s a pretty compelling argument that Luke Skywalker didn’t blow up the Death Star.
