The “unsung hero” in these narratives is the 1975 film Mandingo. It was was an exploitation film, but it was also one of the first ones to “go there” when it came to the sexual aspects of slavery. To depict rape/concubinage that Margret Mitchell tired to suppress at all costs in Gone with the Wind.

Anyone else here remember the 2 season wonder “Underground”? Aside from its jarring use of modern background music, it had some pretty neat touches not usually seen in this kind of story:

Kara wasn’t dating anyone is not the same as Kara never dated anyone.

Which is why I used the term “pity boink”. Kara and Kenny are obviously going to break up once she starts college. Its basically PG rated version of the Tara Reid plotline in American Pie.

Yes a coward who loves the ability to wear gloves on both hands without it looking silly.

Does anyone really want their fingers cut off for making mistakes?

There is a 80% chance that Kenny became the first human being to get pity boinked by a Kryptonian. Its after the prom, they are parting ways, and he even created a special “make out shack”.

Of course I stand corrected. Evil Lincoln, you are always right.

Sara makes a great point that this series should’ve been titled The Preventers!”

They seem to like to come up with their own versions of characters rather than rely on continuity. Even characters from other shows. Damian Darkh, Malcolm Merlin and Gorilla Grodd had a much lighter/comedic approach to their characters on Legends than on Flash and Arrow.

But seriously, one of the best and largely unknown/underrated Blaxploitation Horror films is Sugar Hill (1974). One of the few voodoo based zombie films made post-Night of the Living Dead.

Nope. Always knew it. Just stating it as an axiom.

So physics only work in the Marvel Universe when its Gwen Stacey on the receiving end.

There was also Dr. Black, Mr. Hyde and The Blaxorcist (aka Abbey)

Parking meters of any kind are pure evil!

The way those super soldiers ripped out the New York city parking meter! Of course it was used for evil!!!!”

Dennis Hopper had a weird appearance on SNL a few months after the release of Blue Velvet. The sketch in the link, although heavily dependent on whether you saw the film, is anchored by Hopper’s sheer, Whatthefuckisthis performance.

It was the early 80's it was either Bill Paxton, Clancy Brown, or Michael Ironsides who were in pretty much everything made back then.
