“..and pass the dollars on to American businesses in one fell swoop.“
I seriously had to scroll up to see if this was posted under another site. Nope... a Jalop commentator just made the argument that an M series sports car should be governed to something close to one country’s speed limit. My 40 year old motorcycle can go 2x the regional speed limit - why do I need that? Should it be…
200mph. Every car should have the same top speed.
Hahahahhahahahahhahahahaha.
This is a phenomenally poor take.
I don’t know if a ban on 175 MPH cars is in order. Sell them, for sure. But I think a couple of things would also be prudent:
What’s the highest speed limit in the EU, of which Spain is a member nation?
Because I’m on a track in controlled conditions. Do I need a special GPS unlock to access this? Those are so reliable.
This is going to sound flippant, and I really don’t mean it that way. I think means testing should be avoided whenever practical.
Population of US x 1000, that’s how. If government if giving out free bikes, everyone’s going to want one of those $1000 bikes. That’s why they do a percentage or a low amount that doesn’t cover the whole thing.
Just for rarity’s sake keep the SS. And I hope it has the Holden badges on it
flat $1,000 for anyone who adopts the e-bike life, regardless of how inexpensive a bike they choose.
As a current owner (2020 GT2 RWD) I don’t know about “classic” status as there’s cooler versions that have been made, in far better colors. The 8 speed auto is apparently a copy of the ZF, so for someone like me that couldn’t daily a manual transmission in traffic anymore, it ticked the boxes.
I’m going to make a counter-point in that these types of incentives need to also benefit the middle and upper classes.
Sounds like a waste of money to mostly subsidize people’s hobbies.
In addition to the much lower MSRP cap Bradley recommends, I would add a maximum income of $45,000, a requirement that the bikes be legal to use in all bike lanes (where I am there are different classes and restrictions), and a primary residence within…
Completely agree. I am very disappointed that EVs have been so aggressively coupled with self driving. I want simplicity in my automobile, particularly when it comes to the control algorithm. Luckily some company will pull this off, someone like Mazda or Toyota, a sensible auto maker that makes sensible vehicles.
I’m seeing more and more green and brown on new cars and I am 100% here for that shit.
Im not sold on the new one either. It looks like some generic chinese companies logo that we've never heard of.
That green in the top image is awesome. Not awesome enough to overcome not having enough pedals, but still awesome.
Most of the stuff I see about new EVs over the last several years has left me with a sour taste in my mouth because the emphasis seems to be on EV’s being joined at the hip with ADAS. Stuff like this gives me a glimmer of hope that I’ll be able to have what I want: a good basic pickup that happens to be an EV. Still…
