No doubt the W11 would smoke the MP4/4, as well it should. My reasoning is that while the W11 is currently the cream of the crop and regularly trounces the competition, it’s not at the same level of utter dominance the MP4/4 was (see Verstappen winning fair and square at Silverstone this year). The W11 is a boss, no

That’s a dumb argument. You have to measure a car or anything in its era. Technology evolves but outright domination doesn’t. 16 races, 15 poles, 15 wins. That’s a 94% win rate. If you think this years Merc is better than that, as great as it is, you need to stop writing posts about F1.

Both good points...and bench-racing between eras is always fun, if actually not possible (in terms of fair comparison). Hell, a Gurney Eagle from 1967 would be a LOT faster over a lap with modern rubber...but what other issues would that create?

Considering what the general public knows about light aviation, hitting the brakes, which is a pretty instinctive response, would probably be the typical response.

Yeah. Everybody likes to say what they would do in certain situations, but unless you’ve actually been in that situation, you don’t really know what you would do. That’s why training is important, because then you’ve sort-of been in that situation before.

The driver was probably paralyzed trying to process what was happening and instinctively applied the brakes trying to slow down and assess the situation.

I can’t honestly say *what* I would do if I checked my rearview and saw a god damn airplane.  I’d probably just gawk at it and fail to do anything useful if I’m being honest.

Say what you want about the Mormons, but I don’t think they are responsible for hallucinations.

Try explaining that to your insurance! Ahh, ya I got rear ended by an airplane yesterday. Lay of the LDS buddy, click.

I hate it when some jackass just comes out of nowhere, cuts you off, and jams on his brakes like that.

I don’t understand the complaints. It’s a sim racing-specific car that’s been modeled using real-world limitations. It looks awesome and the specs are interesting. It isn’t a real-world car, so it doesn’t need a halo or an Aeroscreen.

People are insufferable.

iRacing's Steve Myers said they built this car because they had a team of people who couldn't do their work due to the pandemic, so they gave that team something to do. I'll take a that every day over laying people off.

Taking a vacation after nearly burning to death seems a good choice.

So how good is Lewis compared to the field? If Russell can get in a car within a week and almost gets pole.

Fun?

It can be the Brazilian Endurance Championship or a São Paulo State “Força Livre” Championship, where the concept of “classes” is quite wide and things from Radicals to TCR to GT3 and GT4 and old Brazilian Stock Cars race side to side with Mercedes CLA/C Classes, homegrown prototypes like the Metalmoro cars from

Good thing F1 drivers are usually jockey-sized

This time death for me was here [gestures.]  Don’t ask me why, I just had to put a name on it and I called it Benoit.”
