I saw the show in Pittsburgh the night before.  Agree about the audience tension being palpable but Dave did a tremendous job cutting the tension from the beginning (using Hartford jokes).  Being the first show after the "meltdown" he brought his family onstage at the end and thanked the audience numerous times.

So at the Friday show in Pittsburgh basically every comedian talked about how horrible the audience was in Hartford. The audience in Pittsburgh was fantastic and probably partly because of what happened at Hartford (at one point Chappelle said "It makes me feel good when you guys cheer like this but I also feel like

And I'm still definitely excited.  I should say I'm more worried about the crowd than I am about Dave.  He's one of the last comedians of my all time favorites to cross off the seeing live bucket list.

I'm going to be there tonight.  Not feeling as great about it as I was yesterday.

I'm going to throw "Hold My Liquor" into the mix.  For someone who is supposedly so conceited it's a pretty self deprecating depiction of a drunk visit to an ex.

He's also a very consistently great guest on the Doug Loves Movies podcast.  Especially when trading insults with Marc Maron.

My biggest complaints are New Girl and Enlightened being snubbed for Best Comedy Series and Vincent Kartheiser not getting a best supporting actor nomination.  Jonathon Bank getting a nod almost makes up for everything though.

That's what led me to think his whole post was sarcastic.  It has to be, right?

Someone should make one of these 24 hour marathon lists that only includes films available on Netflix Streaming.  I could make a weekend out of that.

@avclub-c3db0eccf2c514420cdb901fd8c00753:disqus I think people are using "Top 40 Rapper" to describe rappers who make songs designed to become mainstream hits like Black Eyed Peas, Flo Rida, etc which Jay-Z is definitely not.  He makes songs that become mainstream hits but the that's clearly not the goal of the

@avclub-50cdf52b4612bd5b419e775ddfc08314:disqus I specifically chose recent songs because SamR said "he hasn't had a song that's made more than a dent in Top 40 in years".

He's actually all over the Top 40.  In addition to "Empire State of Mind",  Blueprint III had "Run this Town" and "Young Forever" that both got a ton of airplay. "N***** in Paris" was huge and "Clique" was a pretty significant radio hit last year.  That's not even mentioning him as a featured artist on "Umbrella",

To be fair, Skyfall came out in November, The Raid: Redemption didn't really get a wide release, Haywire came out in January, and Dredd came out in September.  So if we're comparing this summer of blockbusters to 2012 we'd only have seen The Avengers, Men in Black III, Battleship, and The Amazing Spider Man so far.

Whattt?  American Gangster was excellent.  Blueprint III was ok but forgettable, Kingdom Come was a kind of painful.

I agree.  This should be very interesting.  I didn't read the book but it almost seems like the radio engineer is in there to specifically to be the role of the alternative scientist woman that EVERY stupid CBS drama has.

When's the last time Jay-Z had sketches on an album?

I don't have a source but I remember reading or hearing that he can play the piano/keyboard.  I know that seems to be the one instrument that almost every producer plays but it seems to be enough.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood but I have heard that argument before (about Pandora or Stitcher or whatever profiting off others work) so I may have jumped to conclusions.
