I have one thing to contribute to this:

I'm conflicted about the registry.

Agreed. I had an experience where my landlord stole money from me, and blatantly abused me (which I got on camera, no less), and the powers that be didn't do anything about it. Unfortunately, I couldn't sue her because it would cost me too much money. Yay! >:(

It doesn't *cause* schizophrenia exactly...

I have to agree. I hate that people believe the myth that men and women can't simply be friends. A male friend of mine is coming to visit for a week this fall. He will be staying at my BF and my place during the stay. For some people, this is totally weird, but he is just a friend. He's coming across the country

Wow... that took a really sad turn. I am sorry that she lost her life. I can't imagine how much that must impact you. Life can really suck sometimes.

Hahaha! I use the same expression - "I am feeling very stabby right now"... or if I want an even more shocking thing to say, I'll say "I feel like punching babies". I feel the second one is appropriate for this topic.

Ok, so to be clear, your concern is that it compromises the power distance between the superior and the student when they interact in other ways? That by shortening that power distance, or making it horizontal is problematic?

Thanks for the clarification.

I am Canadian, so I wont claim to be an expert on American health care (or even Canadian health care for that matter), but doesn't this go against the Hippocratic Oath? And if so, doesn't that trump any other bullshit law?

So I guess you're also against teachers giving upset students a consoling hug, or an excited congratulatory hug? Those are for 'pleasure' (interesting word to use by the way... as it heavily alludes to sexual connotations). So is all touch off-limits?

You didn't address the dance teacher and student.

Wow... I feel like you're stalking me or something. THIS is my life!!

So is a bride dancing with her father inappropriate? Is a groom dancing with his mother inappropriate? Would a dance teacher dancing with her student be inappropriate?

From what I am seeing in these comments, there are a lot of blanket statements of
