The absolute worst thing liberals should be right now is defeatist.

To tell you to fuck off.

Well the important thing to remember is that no matter what you do, Kara will find a way to judge you harshly.

That is an important question. I think BLM should release a statement on this. Either “we want white allies there to help us” or “we’d prefer that you donate to our movement instead”.

But doesn’t it feel so good to be morally superior, all alone on that high horse?

Okay so I’ve seen tons of discussion around this on my FB, and here’s my underlying question:

Says the woman who draws from the “white people are the worst” well weekly.

Jezebel is the fucking definition of predictable.

That is simply not true. Every protest/march does not bring out every single person who has ever protested/marched for anything because that’s just a ludicrous expectation. People have priorites and focus and that’s ok, most people have to work and have lives outside of their political activism. This march was huge

And we’re just supposed to take your word for it that you’re doing this “hard work that needs to be done every single day,” right?

But shes a modern feminist!!!! /s

So protests only matter when you’re uncomfortable and/or under threat of violence? Someone downthread described this as a “woker-than-thou” contest, and she/he is exactly right.

And if they don’t what are you going to do? Pat yourself on the back for being right while the nation crumbles around you? You want results without investing in the process and instead disparage the process.

Serious question: does the Black Lives Matter movement have a set position on whether they want white people at their protests or not? I’ve read several high profile articles both ways. I’ll admit to staying away, in part because I’ve read several impassioned pieces saying that I shouldn’t go.

Yes. I do not understand the reverence for Kim Kardashian around here. She is a vacuous waste of space who will be forgotten so fast.

This all feels a bit too cute by a half. Valid concerns, many of which have been expressed people all throughout the Democratic coalition, but in this case, in a way to try and lord them over something undeniably good because you’re obviously holier than thou. Quite frankly, it’s tacky and messy.

My protest is better than your protest

While I understand there are valid critiques of the Women’s March, and they have been discussed elsewhere including other Jezebel articles, this here piece just kinda stinks of “gotta pick apart something!” I think part of the strength of the right is that they rarely eat each other the way we do on the left. No one
