My mom is in this exact situation now, I told her months ago to buy but she didn’t listen! She violates rule number one, she has to have such a specific interior or exterior color or else she’s not interested. She was supposed to have a car by this weekend, they ended up renting a car (no small feat either). Hopefully

something something Veloster something... Or a Mazda 3, both have great manuals and are very affordable.  I drive my Veloster in Manhattan and on long drives, very comfortable.  Both are easy to upgrade to Carplay/Android auto, for me at least this is a must for long distance travel!

take your star for the Bare Naked Ladies reference :-)

Since I can’t click “more comments” I can’t edit my previous comment.  Owning will cost more than renting when you include insurance.  Living in Manhattan and insuring my 8 yo car was $3k/year since I didn’t have any insurance since the early 2000's.  But its still much nicer having your own ride.  I also got tired of

this was my exact post 1 year ago, but it wasn’t selected for WCSYB. Anyways I ended up with a ‘13 Veloster, so this might fit here well (newer for the extra money). Easy to park, reasonably fast, reliable, and comfortable, that 3rd door in the back helps with the doggo!

car rentals are not cheap right now, $500/week in florida due to lack of inventory.

can’t click “more comments” again... good job kinja! nice car easy NP.

David you paid 5k and its 5 year newer I think, and its the lexus version, in his world it would be worth 10-12k lol

This! I’ve been scratching my head on wanting a heavy vehicle just to avoid some taxes.. ESP if you can afford a $150k car!

it def is the wrong time to buy, however some people do need cars now, sucks that they have to pay more for it. I’ve been egging my mother on for MONTHS now to get her act together and buy a car, 3 months ago there was inventory, I warned her of the chip shortage and of course shortages due to covid and she ignored

at the rate he’s going? 4 months max lol

David sounds like you get about as much sleep as I do before a long drive!  Heading to STL from nyc in a few weeks praying I get a decent nights sleep lol

Growing up we had a ‘79 300td sedan, same color interior/exterior. Jam the gas pedal and you would start moving, then 10 seconds later the turbo kicks in and bang, you’re moving (albeit still slow) lol, good memories.

First the car.. I nice priced it out of nostalgia, but it does seem a few k too high...

why? it’s a good upgrade from a daily driver, and easily reversible if you want stock. Still a NP!

one of the few times I voted before I read the article (always read cause Rob’s prose is fun first thing in the morning :-))

so my mom is driving me crazy, she’s driving a ‘91 Camry wagon, I want her to get something newer/safer etc. She has so many requirements no one car can satisfy them all (much like this couple hah). I have her between the CX-9 or a Subaru Outback, her last complaint is shoulder room in the back seat of both. Once a

Fiero?  Was ahead of its time, and of course GM got it right in the last year, I want one but I have no place to keep it in nyc lol

I had to do a double take, that dart interior looks way nicer than a dodge should, tho it was unmistakably dodge it looks like a smaller version of the challenger...

That red costs $500 extra lol
