I'm glad Jezebal republished this beautifully written essay.

I don't know about this. Tyler Perry movies are never released in Italy on DVD but our movie, Jumping The Broom, films like Our Family Wedding, Just Wright, going back a little further, Beauty Shop, and other "all black" cast films play non-stop on SKY Cinema.

She participated in the documentary. And had a full life at school with lots of friends, parents that adored her and supported her.

Of course eating disorders are awful, but the (yes I watched it) E! True Hollywood tale about her did not show a rough, hard life.

Hard? She grew up solid middle class with parents who loved her and was a cheerleader!

Especially a grown ass woman over 40. WTF?

That would be the '60s and it's still relevant as that race changed the way we run campaigns in America.

This is not a gender thing, for once. All I have to say is Kennedy vs. Nixon.

Yep! I remember. The West Wing did have a diverse writing staff. We'll see what happens with Girls.

Segolene is still active in the party. Will be curious to see what she does in the future. I agree with you, she's very smart.

I appreciate her honesty.

I went to vote yesterday and was thinking about how in America there would be no way in hell we would elect a president who wasn't married but living with their partner (and I mean partner in the European sense not American).

I was thinking about that yesterday when I went to vote. I voted for her in the last election and this year her ex beat her former opponent.

What is also killing our industry is the focus on big tentpole movies. This is not just about talent. Neither Meryl Streep nor Denzel Washington would be able to build the same body of work today because the films that broke their careers are not being made.

A "good" suit is very expensive. I just had one made and it has no label, no shopping bag, but time and labor for the tailor who made it.

Because Unilever sells skin bleaching creams in India and African countries.

Yes he refers to them all the time and nobody on this thread is denying his white family. But he self identifies as black. That is his choice. Respect it.

He says he's black.

Ha. I went back and re-read the book. It was a trip.

Hmmm. I'm not sure. I think he might be down to be called Stringer. Thanks for offering to build a time machine. I might use it to visit Andy Gibb too.
