Oh, absolutely. I grow one scotch bonnet plant every year to make jerk sauce with (oh grow up) but that's combining heat with flavor. I only object to the sauces that only pack heat without the complexity of sweet/savory/hot/sour that you get with the best spicy ethnic food.

No, because those are typically in response to a piece of writing. But every "For Our Consideration" is an essay. Hell, every "My World of Flops" is an essay.

So I was wondering where racism against Africans in Asia comes from, I assumed American popular culture, but wasn't sure. So I started googling. I typed "Racism against" and the first completion was "whites"…this fucking country.

The Flop House did! Kinda.

Well, an essay is just a piece of writing on a particular subject, quality notwithstanding.

I didn't know that about the modern view of Samurai, I suppose every modern culture is the process of reevaluating their "heroes".

Another industry destroyed by unchecked environmentalism!

I really don't think he had them during Mr. Show, when he was already passed the usual tattoo getting age.

Yeah, but there's a difference between "spicy" and "Oh my god, it burns! It burns! I can't feel my face! Why are my teeth sweating?"

Sure, and this might not have been terribly evident in my post, but I'm not a strident defender of a movie I saw once on TNT. I only bring it up since when I googled "Last Samurai Japanese Reception" I was surprised that it was, overall, pretty well received.

Yeah, I like spicy, but one should be able to taste one's food. A meal shouldn't be a daunting ordeal.

"Skippy Yi Yi Bay, Uncleclucker!"

Rip off or no, "Lock Out" was a lot of fun. Mais, c'est la guerre, no?

It's not a good movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed "The Messenger"

I mean, I would prefer that all democracies approve, tolerate or at least ignore sodomy, but I'm hardly a member of the intelligentsia as my comment history will attest.

They even brought sand from the area to the lot for continuity!

Maybe I just missed it, but I feel like the media didn't give whiny racist fanboys as much undue attention back then. I'm sure a coterie of idiots were furious, but if it happened today we get like four newswires and "For Our Consideration".

The Japanese actually liked that movie more than Americans did. It apparently has something to do with the Japanese not being comfortable with making movies about certain aspects of their history and nationalism in general.

So like a first year art student then?

Unforunately not always preceded by "lack of."
