I watched the first episode of "The Night Of". It's a little rote, as you noted, but it's well made and certainly held my interest.
I keep meaning to give it a shot. I like Star Trek in almost of its iterations, but man, when that Nickelback-esque abomination started up (as opposed to the terrific-to-at-least-okay orchestral themes of all the previous shows) I decided "the line must be drawn here."
