The suburbs of Texas don't really work that way. You'd have to live in a pretty high-class suburb to not have Hispanic neighbors, teachers, friends, coworkers.

The problem is when those are the only people/families that film and television seem to focus on. Sure there are probably a lot of people who rarely if ever interact with someone of their race. But I would bet good money those people don't live in L.A. or New York where seemingly 90% of the entertainment is set.

You'd be surprised by how large the Hispanic population of Texas is. If only it could be accurately represented in film or television maybe you wouldn't be so surprised.

What does it say about a person if their intensely personal stories in America involves no minorities, though?
