I don't know why the iphone, with its 8-megapixel sensor (3450x2400 or so pixels), can't take properly oriented video when held vertically. It is already known that in video mode the camera only uses the centermost 1920x1080 pixels. This is easily demonstrated by switching from photo to video and noting the difference

LED bulbs have the same problem as CFLs. People will only buy the cheapest ones, and unlike incandescents which are all basically the same, cheap LEDs and CFls look like shit and have problems like humming. Then people will assume all such lamps have the same problems and refuse to embrace them.

Yep, T12 lamps are around 60 lumens per watt, where a T8 is 80-100 and T5 can be over 100...

Annnnd I'm humming Kenny Loggins now.

I always tell myself that I can afford to not go to Black Friday(tm). Same reason I drive a car with power windows, and wear a fresh pair of socks everyday.

Ah, yep $70 each way is a bit steep. Wasn't sure. My folks live on Martha's Vineyard, and a regular car on the ferry there is about that in the winter (more in summer). Of course out there you don't have another option if you wanna drive. I figured since the LI ferries compete with going the "long way" they might be a

Have you tried one of the ferries? Port Jefferson or Orient Point, depending where on LI you are headed. I've heard good things about the experience but never used them myself.

I would trade in my Tacoma tomorrow if I could get a manual, 4x4, diesel Colorado.

I think it'll be a long while (after autodrive goes mainstream) before cars are allowed to drive without occupants.

Gotta agree that people are getting a bit too offended at this. I mean, if you don't like the place, vote with your wallet. That's what they listen to.

Pilots and air travel as an industry have/has been commoditized. Airports are still a good economic driver, though.

At this point, popular culture has forgotten both the cassette and the CD. Each medium had its turn (1980s and 1990s, specifically) and then went into decline. I'm 31 and I'm probably among the youngest people who actually lived with cassette tapes for any meaningful amount of my life.

You've already got a lot of replies on this, but I just wanted to point out that we are indeed reducing our dependency on electricity. Everything from lighting to air conditioners and datacenters is getting more efficient every year.

The stereotypes work both ways. Lots of people think every biker is inconsiderate just because they've come across a few. Lots of bikers think every driver doesn't drive carefully around bokes because they've had a near-miss/accident at some point.

About as good as the leg room up front...

There is a regional airline that flies around New England called Cape Air, which exclusively operates Cessna 402s. Every time I fly home to visit my folks, I try to book a Cape Air flight at least for a leg of the trip. They let you ride in the copilot seat! And I'm a big guy, so weight and balance usually dictates

So, what is the reason they generate more this way? Do they have any theories? Is it because of morning cloud cover?

Yes, offline listening is there.

This really points out how bored I was at work yesterday, but I was scrolling around Denver trying to place those roads. Google image search got me to the real location. I would think if it were an actual array of complaints or something from Denver, it would be in the West Side just south of Colfax.
