@nka: I don't recognize the usefulness either. Come to think of it, when I was a kid in the 70s, if someone from 2009 came back in time to tell me about people carrying phones around in their pockets, I may have asked the very same question. Why in Hell would anyone want to carry around a phone all day?
@hongjun: No love in Canada, either.
Personally I think we should discuss why mooses are so damn sexy!
@Condalmo: I agree about the name...and to the other comments that said "if you know about TiddlyWiki and 37Signals 'Backpack' then it is obvious". Yeah, well, nice for them, but if you are trying to grow a brand, don't you want something that seems more relevant to those other than your existing client base?
@interficio: What's a Blu-Ray? [grin].
I really like the new dashboard. The best part for me is that all of my stuff is in one spot. I created my old bald fat-guy avatar and off I went to get slaughtered in GoW2...
@Rhayader: Hmm...very interesting idea! I haven't had much success with flashing routers, (no guts, no glory) but building a bridge like this is a perfect solution.
OMFSM — Like Red_Flag I too was wishing I could clean up the clutter.
@slink: I wonder the same thing, slink, but AFAIK having a separate process means that if something causes your tab to lock up, you can simply kill the tab without killing the browser altogether. How I wish FF had this long ago. There may be other benefits too, but I would also guess a negative is that more RAM is…
How many people does it take to tell us that Linux isn't supported by Google?
@bpapa9013: If I understand dchall8, the issue is not that the graphs/charts can't be read, it's the point that a person should not have to relearn a GUI for every single application they install. Familiarity is a HUGE part of effective GUI design.
@Darren W.: I see your point, Darren. I think idiot lights are best for a car because nobody has the mad skillz to drive, talk on the cellphone, navigate with their GPS and monitor several gauges displaying engine telemetry. [grin]
@Thud: In Block Poster you can't set an offset manually. Some people actually measure a distance, say 2 or 4 cm between images, making the gap part of the visual effect. Your idea about the frameless glass frames is a good one! They tend to be inexpensive and would work great!
@charneus: More likely is that the host has a cap on bandwidth that was exceeded by curious LifeHackers.
I have a bright shade of yellow on my belly when I comes to a beta anything for Vista.
I may deserve a good flaming for this comment, but what is with all of the fascination with monitoring CPU cycles and memory use etc.? Is it just geek pr0n?
@Adam Pash: Vista is apparently good enough for my employer. Q1 of 2009 they will start rolling it out for the 40 000 people in our organization. We will have that for three years until our next hardware cycle. The world will probably be at Windows 9 by then... :^(
@ub: I had the same thoughts. My first reaction to reading this was YAWN.
@meshele: I'm with you on this one. I have a few friends who are posers (according to my teenagers) with their smartphones. Here in Canada the plans are ridiculously expensive on top of all the regular cell phone charges. But hey, my buddies can all check their email anytime for $100+ per month.
