I need an IM client that will do PC to PC voice calls and webcam. Yahoo! on Vista sucks.

I need an IM client that does PC to PC voice calls along with webcam. I have family overseas and they are locked into using Yahoo! Messenger at their internet cafes. I have a brand-new install of Vista SP1 Home Premium and as soon as voice chat starts YM crashes. I would pull out all of my hair if I had any to pull

Just installed YM on my brand new Vista Home Premium computer and it runs for literally 4 seconds and crashes. I can only get YM 8.x to work. The beta YM for Vista sucks golf balls through garden hose. It doesn't even have webcam support.

@jefflewis: I'm sure that you will find that there is no one perfect solution. You CAN find something good about everyone's contribution in a group setting. Maybe John busted his hump for a change so he can be praised for his extra effort. Maybe Jane learned a new skill, and while she was learning, she may not have

@ankeet: Yeah, constructive criticism is always better received than simply "that sucks!" Is Vista as bad as its predecessors? Well, XP as it is now is great, IMO, but Vista is not. I have only experience with a single laptop and a desktop, both running Vista Home Premium or whatever-the-hell-they-call-it. It does

@ankeet: Why are we complainers when we simply offer an opinion that is contrary to your own? Shall we call you fanbois then? What purpose does the name-calling serve?

Switched over to Chrome...still not working, and in fact, I just submitted a comment and it never appeared.

@natenovs: Using IE 6 here...doesn't seem to be working @ 20:14UTC.

@BigDASH: I wonder if the realignment is aligned to the relignment of planets vis a vis planets versus dwarf planets. Do we have to wait for Pluto and Ceres et al., to align with the realignment? I may have to realign my priorities!

I use Adobe Bridge for my metadata. You can create metadata templates — to separate private from professional needs for example — and it can also be used to do bulk file renames based on whatever metadata you wish to use. I rename all of my images to [YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.raw] etc.

EUREKA! I get it! I! GET! IT!

If I were a dog I would be humping the leg of every Gmail team member as a show of appreciation.

@natenovs: Uh, Windows has a live mail desktop app? I'm a long time Windows user and I didn't even know this. Now that I do know this, I respond "who cares?" I am so tied into Google that I can't even be bothered to look at Live Mail.

If you are running Vista they force you to have UAC ON? WTF?

Still down 0750 hrs Pacific. :I

@gravi_t: It's the Windows setting I'm talking about — we can't change that on our locked-down computers. I have GMail set to US Engrish but Gmail seems to ignore this. At home my Vista and XP installs are all set to US Engrish and the Lab options show up as expected.

Share my pain, folks...as if it's not bad enough that I'm forced to use IE 6x here at work, we are also locked into using English - Canadian so the LAB stuff doesn't show up in GMail settings.
