I've been listening exclusively to Radiohead during this total fucking nightmare of a week because they're the best and they always make me happy. I've needed the solace badly and they've delivered.

Cool! He's a great drummer/lemon shaker. Thom Yorke is scoring the Suspiria remake, too, which I'm insanely excited to hear.

I love Nick Cave but that album is pretty fairly rated.

Yeah, for me OK Computer and The Boatman's Call by themselves more than make up for literally every negative thing that happened in 1997.

Oh shit, David Thewlis would be incredible. I want to live in a world where that is happening.

Nick Searcy is the only one that really bums me out. He was so great on Justified. And Adam Baldwin too, I guess, but I don't have as much fondness for any characters he's played.

"Money..penny…" *sobs*

Yes! I love that album so much. Nearly went all year with nothing quite beating it but then Nick Cave took a sledgehammer to my heart.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree
Mothers - When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired
Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
Mitski - Puberty 2
Angel Olsen - My Woman
Moonface & Siinai - My Best Human Face
Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker
David Bowie - Blackstar
Japanese Breakfast - Psychopomp
DM Stith - Pigeonheart
Shearwat

A Rectify comparison is all the convincing I need. Looking forward to this.

He was so damn good on The Knick.

Stranger Things for most pleasant surprise of the year. I find myself thinking about how much I miss it all the time.

These covers are so enjoyable. I especially love their versions of "Atlantic City" and "Bobby Jean" and prefer them to the originals (I know, I'm terrible). However, the best "Thunder Road" cover is by Tortoise and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. It's amazing.

God help anyone who ever tries to capture the wry decency of Sol Star after John Hawkes.

Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, too. I wish I could somehow transport his performance into Manhunter, because I love me some Manhunter, but I can't see anyone completely nailing the tragic complexity of that character like Dancy did. God, it was good.

Yeah, in fact Mads' performance has made me kind of retroactively dislike (or at least feel underwhelmed by) Anthony Hopkins in SOTL, even though it's long been one of my favorite movies. Jodie Foster is still fucking unbeatable though.

Robin Weigert as Jane Cannary. It's such a weird, almost overtly comedic performance that also manages to be so incredibly vulnerable and humanistic. The voice, the physicality, everything is just perfect.

When I said I wanted to see him in more film roles, I didn't mean this. :(

It wasn't just a smile after he pulled the trigger, it was a laugh! That moment was goddamn delightful. I've been struggling a little with how clunky and trite a lot of the dialogue in this show is, and that moment totally pulled me back in and made it all worth it somehow. I mean, plus that fight sequence. That was

The first song that came to my mind is Kate Bush's "Night of the Swallow." So good.
