“Inconvenience your legislators, not people trying to work and simply go about their day.”
blocking highways is not “peaceful protest”
Ok, clearly you have never had a need to protest so I can see there’s no point in continuing.
Civil disobedience is 100% a form of peaceful protest and played a huge role in the civil rights movement. The fact that you apparently think blocking a roadway is domestic terrorism while running a car into a peaceful crowd of protestors is not speaks volumes about you as a person.
It’s not really a protest if it inconveniences no-one, now is it?
You’re entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts.
Yours is the correct answer (IMHO).
Demonstrating against systemic racism is being “butthurt?” Go fuck yourself. This country was founded by disruptive demonstrators. And how many times have you ever been inconvenienced by a protest? Again, you are an asshole with bad opinions.
When you attempt to quell the probability of dissent with white male toxicity deeply rooted in white male supremacy, the credibility of your position is immediately in question.
“do you really want a hundred butthurt people closing down roads when your father is having a heart attack, and the ambulance is stuck in traffic? Or if your house is burning to the ground, and the fire truck is stuck in that mess?”
They don’t stand on private driveways, as that is trespassing and often violates other court orders. Which clinics have gotten court orders forcing local law enforcement to enforce. Which pushes the protesters onto the pavement.
“Gullible? Well, I don’t get taken very often, and have a good bullshit detector, so I think that one is out as well.”
I think what my point was is that, while the exact wording between TN and FL’s laws may be different, with different things being criminalized or made more-punishable, they are one and the same in spirit. They are intended to suppress the right to peaceably assemble by making doing so potentially life ending either by…
So that actually happened in Hong Kong: Pro-democracy protesters blocked up arteries COMPLETELY - we are talking about hundreds of thousands (and actually, at its peak) up to 2 million protesters on the streets.
I get where you’re coming from, but you miss a lot of important factors. One being that disrupting the status quo is a part of protesting. If you’re not being disruptive, you’re easy to ignore. Blocking roadways is a nonviolent means of being disruptive. The fact that you think it borders on terrorism means you either …
Fuck.
Off.
Making it illegal to peacefully protest DOES infringe on your right to protest.
This is clearly intended to target the BLM protests.
