Bob Vila gets George Foreman to appear on "This Old House." The only person Tim can find to appear on "Tool Time" in short notice is Hillary Clinton. Tim doesn't like this. Wilson lectures Tim on how you don't always fight fire with fire. Hillary's cameo is a smashing success.

It works, though, because the most sports analysis Lauer ever has to do is to read the medal count at the end of the show. Otherwise, he's just throwing from event to event, and occasionally chatting with Mary Carillo about some fluff report that wouldn't be out of place on Today.

Al Michaels is one of my favorite sports announcers, and he anchors some of the cable afternoon coverage. Frankly, I understand why NBC went with Matt Lauer as the ringleader for the evening coverage.

Either the writer went to the same university as me (Northwestern), or the experience is eerily universal.
