In a sense, he’s the pitching version of Mazeroski. A guy who was a pretty good player for a long time, and he rode the wave of one huge game or event into the HOF. Except for Morris, that wave crashed on the doorstep of the Hall. Thankfully.

According to baseball-reference, Schilling ranks 26th among pitchers in career WAR. Jack Morris is tied for 138th. Morris was a slightly above average starter for a long time with a couple of very good years. Schilling was a dominant power pitcher.
