That sounds seriously awful, given that Aunt May just learned Peter is Spider-Man in Homecoming. So she apparently was cool with it, since Peter still has his costume in IW, and then Peter dies, May gets 2-3 years to deal with her grief and guilt for letting him continue super-heroing, and then he comes back? Jesus,

AoS already established that Thanos has invaded New York, so they’re at the start of the movie timeline. The real problem is that they’re the show is most likely going to overlap with the Avengers 4 timeline, so they’ll need a way to avoid giving away how the Snap is undone while telling a coherent narrative.

Black Panther explicitly took place a week after Civil War, so it comes before Homecoming and well before Ragnarok chronologically.

I don’t get why you (along with others) seem to find it hard to grasp the idea that these media might not take place in exact chronological order with release. Aside from Ant-Man and the Wasp taking place before Infinity War (which you cite as though it were some extraordinary, ridiculous thing to do), the MCU has

I mean, I don’t think anyone ever (certainly no national-level politician) merits this kind of hagiography. Ginsburg has done a lot of good stuff on the Court, and a lot of bad stuff (she’s written multiple decisions screwing over Native American tribes, even though neither the law nor the politics actually compelled

That’s his plan!? I thought he was gonna erase emotion so humanity could enjoy tech without all the murder/prejudice/anger (a sound morally grey-ish story) but of course they went with the nonsensical plan.

I think the producers imagined the audience would be way more excited about a random actress showing up to wink at the camera every six or so episodes.

Making everyone dumb is not enlightenment DeVoe, what a dumb ass.

In case you missed it, last week’s episode of My Brother My Brother and Me (Episode 400) is one of the single greatest podcasts of all time, with the brothers taping directly from the Red Carpet for the Broadway opening of Escape to Margaritaville.

How about a chart for the whole show? Lawful good = Vern. Follows a family’s brief, exacting standards, and tries to make the family happy with 100% success so far. Neutral good = Laurie. Good because she tries to make everyone happy, but neutral in that she does try something out of left field occasionally. Also, she

Damien was reminding me of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode where Spike goes, “This is the crack team that foils my every plan? I am DEEPLY shamed.”

No, I don’t think Colin Trevorrow decided to turn down the chance to direct an installment of the most popular film franchise of all time because he didn’t like someone else’s movie.

You’re right, a movie as great as TLJ would have been an impossible act for a middling director like Trevorrow to follow. Good point.

Probably. The space flight looks impressive but it’s basically a Force Pull in zero gravity (if you can pull a lightsaber, which weighs something, you should be able to pull yourself in an environment where you weigh nothing) so it wouldn’t even require that much training.

Black Panther is still making history by setting huge records. That’s arguably more interesting than anything the new-releases are doing, regardless of Pacific Rim being #1. It makes sense to me that they’d keep talking about BP.

Counterpoint: The reason that Black Panther and The Last Jedi were as successful as they were is largely due to Ryan Coogler and Rian Johnson’s directorial vision. Both of these are assured pieces of genre filmmaking that benefit from having directors who are interested in more than just getting the right shots.

And

I don’t know enough about pre sale numbers to know but I feel like they only give you an indicator of opening weekend numbers. To make Black Panther money you need people coming consistently over several weeks and most people don’t buy tickets in advance.

I liked Black Panther but I found the movie growing on me even more in retrospect after the theater experience. I enjoy a lot of superhero movies but they don’t necessarily stay with me. Black Panther stayed with me.

Joe Biden is over 70.

He IS too old. The Democratic old guard needs to let in more young blood. Schumer is 67, Pelosi is 77, so is Biden. Compare that with the Republicans: Ryan is 48, Pence is 58. Yes, Trump is an old guy, but the Republicans have a young guard in charge, why don’t younger Democrats step up?
