My problem was simply the bad 'engrish' voice over. It made the bit sound too comedic when I think if they played it completely straight and had a japanese voice actor deliver the lines with more gravitas, it would have actually been funnier in an anti-joke kinda way.

It's clear that it wasn't really about the drugs.

That's how I see it.
