Why does everyone think Carl not reacting is a good thing or badassery? It would be more reasonable to assume he's in shock or has shut down his feelings in a way that will prove to be bad for his mental stability down the line.

Someone who is normal and has nothing to hide wouldn't be so adamant about not giving you a name. Even a made-up name. It's not like anyone is going to ask for a birth certificate.

Being automatically suspicious of men in certain situations is part of being a woman in the normal world too. Andrea is way too trusting of strangers (including armed men) to be believable to me.
