Yummsh, I agree. Every other goddamned post on these comment threads is some whiner going on about how The Office is now officially the worst show ever in the history of television and that it's unworthy of their attention.

No because doctors are professionals, just like mechanics. Feeling body parts and sticking their fingers in intimate places is just part of the job. It's understandable to be a little weirded out by it as a layman, but seriously, it's not fun sexytimes for them. It's a job.

The comments don't feel quite complete without a thread berating the author of the post.

I guess we have to pay attention in the Jin & Sun episode to see which one will be looking at his/her reflection…perhaps that will be a clue as to which Kwon is a candidate?

Since when has Dogen been honest and straightforward when Sayid is concerned? Did everyone forget how he lied about the poison? Why are we taking his word about Smoky speaking seriously?

A plausible theory—I don't think the boomerang gift was pure coincidence…what WAS Sayid doing in Australia anyway?

Interesting. Was there a point during the Kate episode when Claire looked at herself in a mirror or reflective surface?

I thought it was a good fight scene because it wasn't that slick. Yeah, they were throwing random shit at each other at one point, but not every fight is going to be clean and elegant.

Looks very promising.

This is why I read discussion boards at all. I never pick up on these little details and now I have an interesting new angle to consider.

Oh, I'm not complaining about the amount of discussion. It was really kind of sad around here until this last episode. And I'm enjoying the rather high tone of the discussion (smug assholery aside)—The AV Club boards are the only ones I peruse for discussions on tv shows I watch.

"…Oh, so superficial, it's just anthropology and otherizing, well, what would be enough? What would have to happen for that box to be ticked successfully?"

Although on second thought, the newer Star Treks were always pretty good at having diverse casts. Ditto Lost and Heroes (until the POC started being killed or written off).

Phodreaw is right. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I would have found the image of Zoe-girl holding her ripped-off arm and bleeding onto the floor goofy rather than horrific. Seeing the robot standing there with one arm was enough.

You guys are missing the fact that half of these comments were made by the same five or six people.

@alurin: You're right that Willie. I'd forgotten about that. Although it still sort of fits—the children and grandchildren of immigrants often get a somewhat skewed version of their 'mother' culture because a) this is a self-selected group of people who chose to leave their home planet b) immigrant communities can

@magnusbarfood: I didn't start the slightly asshole tone in this thread, Magnus: "And as for knowing "anything about real world immigrants"…well, I am one, for starters. And where are the facts to back up your massive generalisation?" I am a smug asshole, but not into starting shit for no reason. If someone phrases

Someone gets too close to a case every week on SVU. I swear they take turns caring.

@Prolehole: Exactly. The Chakotay reference is spot-on. A lot of times in mainstream culture, it's clear when stories about immigrants have been written from the perspective of someone who isn't an immigrant or child of immigrants. It always bears the whiff of anthropology.
