“He pulled himself up by his bootstraps” is a physical impossibility, originally used to call BS on tall tales.

Yes, thank goodness we have these heroes saving America by voting in an Islamaphobic chicken hawk as Secretary of State. The bravery...

This guy is a real piece of work.

I see you are trying a new tactic TomatoFace. It’s not working.

So is this the new Kremlin troll campaign? Defending Weinstein and pretending to be a Democrat?

It’s good for people to know the truth, if that makes you uncomfortable then you should learn to grow up.

Counterpoint: Barbara Bush was a terrible person, fuck her and anyone asking anyone to stay quiet about the fact.

Show me the lie.

Hmmn.

I’ve always had a theory that middle school teachers are completely fucked in the head, and your comment kind of furthers that theory.

They literally said they teach positive and negative depictions of the lives of slaves and ask them which they think are accurate. That’s literally the opposite of telling them that the lives of slaves were objectively bad.

Wait, so you’ve gone from suggesting showing kids positive depictions of the lives of slaves and leaving it up to them whether they believe them to be true to having them experience slavery themselves? What the fuck are you doing to these kids?

Saying “slavery is bad for slaves” is not a conclusion, it’s a starting point. It’s not something you should have to come to unless you already think slavery is good for slaves, it’s where you take off from.

LOL, yeah, I’m the one coming off as the ignorant asshole here.

Well, there’s a real zinger. I don’t know how I’ll come back from that but I suppose it’s because you don’t have a substantive comeback.

It is not an insult to ask you to think about the fact that you almost certainly DON’T teach fascism in the same way that you teach slavery. Your response suggests that you believe fascism is indefensible and that slavery is not indefensible.

No, it’s not always bad to ‘give away’ conclusions. Do you teach fascism in the same way? It’s one thing to teach why something arose/flourished, it’s different to have them look at ‘good’ and ‘bad’ pictures of the life of slaves and leave it up to them which to believe. In most cases they’ll probably end up arguing

Okay, I’ll hear you out. Just give me serious answers to the questions that the things you say raise.

Bipartisanship is inherently virtuous. We can’t be loony extremists and say all slavery is bad. We have to compromise with people who think slavery is good. That’s the only way to be a progressive who gets things done!

Politics are so partisan nowadays! We should meet in the middle about everything because balanced views are the healthiest to have. We can all agree to disagree! Let’s disagree that the Civil War was started over slavery versus state’s rights! Whatever! Facts don’t matter, both sides are equally bad!
