With most peripherals, MS sells as a profit, whereas with console hardware they are happy to eat the loss. They may be going for the "hardware loss" because of how pants-happy this makes game developers, and because premium peripherals (Beatles Premium Edition Rock Band 2, Band Hero, DJ Hero), while still selling…
Dear Infinity Ward,
@cyruss: The thing keeps getting mysteriously pulled from any site that puts it on sale or for pre-order, with MS refusing to do anything other than acknowledging it exists. There hasn't been any official word on a release, so posts expressing how it's popping up are going to be regular. #wirelessnnetworkadaptor
@FrankieViturello: Two antennae generally improve transmission, notably with N routers (which usually have 2 or 3 with at least one of those internally). In this case, looking at the specs listed above, it likely has one antenna for 2.4 signal and one for 5.0. 5.0's a larger deal for crazy gamers because while it…
Dear EA,
The first pic looks like the Chocobo (with muppet arms, no less) is stomping off, like the character in the background called it a horrible nickname from its childhood.
It worked for Lucas... #granturismo5
I'll never understand this obsession with breaking street dates. Further mystifying me is that it's usually involving customers who have PRE-ORDERS (ie: guaranteed and allotted copies).
@TVs_Frank: Indeed, instead of shooting where the ship was, he should have shot where the ship was going to be. #threadless
Alright! It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two-litre bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix tape. Let's rock! #threadless
@mousearmy: I agree. Most companies here in the States are lobbying for data caps, and their services deliver far less than they claim. We're running into a neat train wreck between everyone wanting everything online and people who do not want to spend too much money having to provide it. #satoruiwata
Part of me wants this to be true. I like discs, I like sharing a game with a friend on their console (usually they'll buy it to play it with me online).
@-MasterDex-: Sir or Madam, that is a very cogent argument and I greatly appreciate it. I do get the leasing structure (see other comments), but it's also a mini-business that does have to be maintained, and is potential for data that companies have a real desire to extract. Explaining that to investors is a lot…
@BasBalManic: It's a business structure to maintain those leases, but companies (ie: investors) still want to track them, track legitimate purchased copies, and have data to help market and create the next game. None of those things are easy (and if you know any analysts, nor are they cheap). So it's a drain on…
@-MasterDex-: I do get that it's a community and structure of playing that's been set forth a long time ago and lets grow a community of custom games without the banal comments of screaming teenagers yelling homophobic rants at you. I understand that it's been considered a part of gaming for a long time and allowed…
With the exception of World of Warcraft, non-PC gamers are worth more money. More money means more games and more creative freedom and more finances. It's ultimately their game and they can do what they want, it will still make a bajillion dollars.
Tycho from Penny Arcade summed up a lot of the reasoning for the sudden disinterest in dedicated servers by companies last week.
@nala1908: A term I've seen before but used in the above article... it denotes movies where the main attraction is shit blowing up/falling down/sinking. Think Independence Day, Armageddon, etc. #advertising
As a recently disappointed Chicagoan, this is the first time in a while I felt a pang of sympathy for Rio. That seems cruel.
