I for one am perfectly comfortable putting Pratchett in the company of people of like Vonnegut. Death's speech in Hogfather about why people need stories, Brutha leading Vorbis across the desert, Vimes telling Veternai how NOT to mourn the dead watchmen in Night Watch - these moments are as heartcracking as anything

Also, is "where the falling angel meets the rising ape" not the most succinct description of humanity ever written, or what?

Oats' "Then let's make it one" moment with the axe is on my top ten list of badass Discworld moments. And Granny Weatherwax saying 'sin is when you treat people as things, including yourself' is the quote from the series that reoccurs to me more than any other.

Easily one of the greatest ruminations on mortality ever written.

I think Night Watch is probably the best, but I also adore the Witch novels too much to choose just one. Granny Weatherwax is my favorite character of all time.

We now live in a world without Leonard Nimoy or Terry Pratchett, and I am once again trying not to be the girl who cries at her desk. I can't imagine my life without this man's writing. As far as I'm concerned he was one of the greatest (maybe THE greatest) author of out time.

I think Aja has a worse reputation than she really deserves, but she DOES seem to unequivocally think that outside attention on fandom is a good thing, and I don't agree. Like I don't care if fanfic and such is ever legitimized by mainstream publications, because it isn't for them. So I never understand who she is

Honestly that comment kinda makes me want to write porny fanfic right here in this comment section.

All those losers who don't create their own characters, harrumph. Who does that Will Shakespeare think he is? Or Jean Rhys. And everyone knows that the Narnia series is just a bible find-and-replace.

I had honestly never heard of Wattpad before today and still don't have a clear idea of what it is. I don't know why he wouldn't be reading on the A03, since it's quite likely that all these stories are archived there.

I was kind of surprised he didn't have a bigger role in the episode. I'd love to see him around more.

Yeah, I could pick a Joan-style outfit out of a lineup easily, it's very distinctive. And though I'm a clothes loving lady, I admit I've never noticed how expensive it is as I'm not great at recognizing brand names in the wild. So it's never been a distraction for me.

Nope, Oscar left it on the ground.

I can see this as a realistic explanation, but also think if that's the case they probably should have noted as such in the episode. Particularly since the cop's loose lips led to Sherlock getting the snot kicked out of him.

Nah. I'm not 'hung up on these specifics'. Matt Weiner's just a hack.

Pretty sure there was never 'a time' in which people cut their nipples off and got tossed from cruise ships by their gay husbands, dude. That's some soap opera shit right there and I'll call it as I see it.

The Runaways feels like Matt Weiner had a Mad Men themed nightmare and decided to stick it in the canon for some reason.

It's one of the few moments I've really liked Pete, because he was definitely trying to help and take care of things in that moment.

"Commissions and Fees", Mad Men. The long, slow descent of Lane into suicide was so painful to watch. Jared Harris was a marvel here, that man deserves to be cast in everything. I kept hoping that someone would come along to stop him but knew that no one would. And Joan being the one to find the body was so unfair.

True story: I tried to tell my sister about the end of Jurassic Bark and started crying spontaneously. Then she started to cry, because she cries when other people cry. It was a mess.
