The astronomical upkeep of the current inventory is part of why the B-21 is being developed. The point is to leverage the prior development of the B-2 to provide a much more cost effective bomber as far as development, production, and future upkeep.

The B-21 will have much lower maintenance costs. The B-2 is a real hangar queen.
