the thing that blew my mind was when they used the lightsaber to cut through the blast door

Yes!  Doug Chiang’s work on Star Wars began with TPM and it continues to impress.  Great production designer!!!

Something I’ve also said before: while the revisionism that claims the prequels were anything but disasters remains head scratching, the one thing the recent movies did was to make you appreciate what Lucas was trying to do with them.

It doesn’t get acknowledged much but the unloading battle droids in front of the mounted Gungans was another Kurasawa homage to this scene in Ran.

When my son and I play Star Wars figures/lego/whatever and we use the duel of the Fates music, we sing it as:

The battle droids were terrible soldiers and mostly used for comedic effect but the scene where the carriers deployed them to fight the Gungans is still pretty neat. If only they had been that menacing the rest of the time.

Scrolled down. Kept scrolling...

The Naboo ships and fighters are some of the all time greats. I’m especially fond of this old concept art, which was was one of the first glimpses we got of *anything* from TPM.

Conversely, they could set pricing and arrange trips (i.e. what they do now) and its drivers are subcontractors at a pre-agreed rate - like in every other industry that uses subs.

Apropos of nothing, but I mentally insert, at the end of each of your posts, “I WIN AGAIN, LEWS THERIN.”

Re: Atlas... I’m always fascinated by things that “work” and things which don’t.

Even Futurama need time to get gud.

I think the problem with stream shows is that they havent found a way to successfully advertise shows. Then by time people find them, they are cancelled. On regular TV you would have commercials that let people know of new shows. Now a lot of shows are found via algorithm. It is hard for someone to take a risk

Paramount Pictures and Ghost Rider producer Steven Paul have purchased the film rights to the entire character library of Atlas-Seaboard, a fledgling 1970s comic book publisher with ties to the early days of Timely Comics (better known now as that underground upstart, Marvel) whose longest-running title lasted only

I feel everyone expected it to be as good as Futurama right at the get go, but they need time to become good.

I didn’t hate the first season, so I’m looking forward to this new one. It’s not always funny, but I still kinda dig the characters and story for some reason.

Ever seen Cosmopolis? He’s got the intense-bordering -on-Sociopathic Bruce Wayne thing down.

1988: Ugh, the guy from Beetlejuice is playing Batman? Mr. Mom? This is gonna be terrible.

Do you think this show will actually get into the supernatural elements, or will it all just be a clever cover for the real killer?
