A medical practitioner takes an oath to do no harm. If their sensibilities are harmed because the person in front of them said something funny - perhaps they need to go back to school and retake their classes on how to deal with patients.
I’ve made my point. It is here for others to read now. Also, most medical office receptionists these days are technically medically trained. Look up MOA (Medical office assistant). I assure you, they are taught more about medicine than that of the average person calling in.
If you truly have an issue giving specifics because you are embarrassed or whatever, you can always use broad reasons such as: Mental Health Issue, Skin Issue, Pelvic Exam, etc. That should give their staff enough information to book your appointment.
