I made $47,500 at my first job in NYC back in 2007. I couldn’t eat out much or travel like I do now but I was fairly comfortable. I lived on the Upper East Side in Manhattan and had a roommate. Most people who live in NYC make far less than $50K so you could definitely live on “just” $50K.
