Maybe it’s different in Utah, but in NY, campus security on public SUNY/CUNY schools are absolutely not real cops.  They are private security guards that works for the college.  

I’ve spent almost 20 years working for universities and colleges, can absolutely confirm. The whole goal of campus security is to keep the real cops from being called, whether they have the capacity and ability to solve the issue or not.
