What you have in your picture is something I see on the roads around here (PNW) all the time. But the article said “flatbed” and “lumber” (not timber) - so that made me picture a standard delivery flatbed with perhaps a load of 2x4s or such. Very different animals.

Stupid comment. The bikers weren’t doing anything illegal. This is clearly negligence on part of the trucking company - failure to properly secure the load. The load should be secured, regardless of the sudden maneuvers or braking.

The social contract is much more thin and fragile than people tend to think. I believe many people only stop for an accident because they worry they won’t be able to successfully run away. And for those that do stick around, they mostly tend to lie about what happened.

Pretty sad that we are all pleased and surprised that the trucker stayed instead of just leaving. I hope doing the right thing will prove to have been the right decision, too.

I see this sentiment sometimes and it always irks me. The nature of TV narrative is *not the same* as film narrative. You shouldn't compare the experiences as a 1:1. And I’ll add, since you mention insurance fraud which this almost certainly is, the ironic thing is no insurance company would accept a $35K quote for this type of damage and this guy is under no obligation to accept that quote either. Something is fishy. First off $35K for windows is off the chart expensive. And then why was only this car damaged? I can see what appears to be at least 8 vehicles in total just in that video clip. Why only this one car? And why was it done with such seeming purpose?
