Yeah this is one of the scenes I’m not sure who created. Some of the scenes are pretty obvious that they’re from the Snyder cut or a part of the Whedon re-write, but to me this scene I wasn’t too sure of.

From what the article describes it sounds like there we no witnesses to the boy’s initial drowning just people who heard it happening after he was already in the water and went to rescue him. Once the mother saw he was going to be rescued she probably played the part of the concerned mother.
