Give me the old school choreography any day.

No Disney had nothing to do with turning Vader powerful.  That was all in the books and games etc. and GL making changes.  GL has been moving the goal posts wince the beginning.  I mean come on Darth was Vader’s actual FIRST NAME in the A New Hope and not a title.

The throne room fight is dumb because it isn’t a duel at all! It is just two people cutting down literally faceless nobodies with zero drama attached to it.

The new movies lightsaber fights lack consequence. That’s their biggest issue. The first one mostly just contributes to Wren’s existing emotional issues and gives him a cool scar, and the fight in the second movie is entirely pointless because it has no impact on the characters going forward. Neither Ray or Wren

You aren’t wrong about Dual of the Fates (it’s the best fight in the entire series), but everything else in the PT brings it down below Both Luke vs. Vader fights in the OT.

My predix:

The only who is aggravated here is your hype ass. All I said was the styling choice and hair makes it hard to place the movie in a prequel or sequel setting. Now do your self a favor and keep it moving.

See, if they sold it as Avengers: The Humbling of James Cameron they’d have my money already.

It is NOT “for the fans.” On absolutely no level is this “for the fans.” This is studio ego-stroke they’re milking fans to pay for. It’s the utter antithesis of being “for the fans.”

If my words can stop you from enjoying something you want to enjoy you’ve got bigger problems you should be addressing.

“But she’s got a new hat!”

Are people gonna do it anyway and Marvel will get the sub-50 million it needs for its box office crown (or really, it’s a gauntlet, surely)? Absolutely.

If it means that it’ll beat Avatar for the #1 spot I’ll go see it for a fourth time.

To be fair, I am for immigrants coming to occupy property previously owned by people in rural areas. That’s because those rural areas are dying and need an influx of people to stay afloat.

Fat guy here - been fat since I spent a month home from school with the chicken pox at 8, got even fatter when I broke my leg in a construction accident at 27 and spent 6 months home.

I have my body image issues too - not as bad as the author, but real.

That said..... maybe it’s a generational thing, but that GQ article

The past ten years have definitely seen a marked increase in pushing this idealised male body image. Marvel was at the forefront of it, but it’s everywhere in our culture right now.
Right now our culture is very strongly saying men aren’t allowed to love their bodies unless they look a certain way.

I only take exception with one line:

I am in my late 40s and in relatively good shape, walk regularly, eat well, drink in moderation, go to the gym. And every day I look in the mirror and I see the 12-year-old boy that my father dragged to the gym so that I wouldn’t have the “weight problems” that plagued him throughout childhood and young adulthood.

But

Thanks for writing this. I’ve felt for a long time that the idea of media-enabled standards placed on men is just as toxic as those placed on women, but as a modern society we’ve mostly decided to ignore the men’s side of that in favor of fighting for the women’s side. Which, of course, is a fight that needs fighting,

It’s really strange though, I’ve been to lots of different CF gyms all over the country, and I’ve really never run into the CF bro culture that people love to bring up. Every one has been super welcoming and filled with fun people, no matter what your fitness level is. The guy who just got his first pullup? Fuck
